It feels like just yesterday we were in Germany at the Embedded World Conference announcing our latest System-in-Package device the OSD32MP15x. This System-in-Package device is built on the first mass market microprocessor from STMicroelectronics, the STM32MP1. Since then we have received amazing feedback from customers, distributors, technology enthusiasts, and media outlets. The response really has been overwhelming.
We believe this excitement is caused by the synergy between the design of the STM32MP1 and the simplification provided by OSD32MP15x system in package technology. The STM32MP1 was architected to allow designers to move from an existing microcontroller design into the world of embedded Linux as effortlessly as possible. It leverages an ARM M4 core, peripherals, and tools that are already familiar to experienced microcontroller designers while adding Dual ARM Cortex A7 capable of running Linux and Android. This in combination with the simplification provided by the system in package integration means a designer can utilize the performance of a full featured microprocessor running Linux with the ease and familiarity of a microcontroller!

EEWeb.Com editor Max Maxfield remarks about the STM32MP1 Based SiP: “The thing that really blows my socks off is that the OSD32MP1 package has the same 18 × 18-mm footprint as a standalone packaged STM32MP1” . Read the full article : Octavo Systems Introduces First STM32MP1-Based SiP
Electronic Design editor Bill Wong notes in his article System-in-Package Simplifies Multicore SoC Deployment that “the design savings provided by using the OSD32MP1 is significant, plus it offers a major footprint reduction.”
eeNews Europe editor Alistair Winning highlights the software support in his article First SiP for ST32M1 Line  “The ability to re-use firmware and the elimination of complexity makes the OSD32MP1 the easiest path for designers to move from a microcontroller to Linux.”
And an interview with popular Video Blogger, Charbax:
We have been hard at work getting ready for the availability of the new OSD32MP15x devices. Designs are being finalized, tests are being run, datasheets and applications guides are being written. All of this is to make sure you have the best possible experience when designing with the STM32MP1 System in Package. We want your design to be a breeze and the OSD32MP1 to be a solid foundation to build your application on. One of the most important things we have been working on is defining the features of our Reference, Evaluation and Development (RED) platform for the OSD32MP1 system-in-package. We have received some really good feedback from various channels but we still need yours!
In order to support this I am happy to announce the creation of the Octavo Systems Alpha Community. This is will be a community of passionate designers that want to help us create the best possible products. This group will get special access to member’s only forums and early access to information regarding our devices. In exchange all we ask for is your honest feedback!
The first thing we will be working with our Alpha Community to do is finalize the design of the MP1 RED board. If you would like to be part of the community please fill out the form below and you will receive information on what to do from there.
We will also be giving away a couple of early boards to members that provide the best feedback!
I am also excited to let you know that we will be featured at the upcoming stops on the ST Tech Tour in North America.
This includes the popular ST Developer’s Conference.  This one-day interactive summit, is held on September 12, 2019 at the Santa Clara Convention Center’s Mission City Ballroom.
At each venue we will have a spot alongside the ST32MP1 team. If you are near one of the stops come out and learn how easy it is to migrate from the microcontroller to Linux with the OSD32MP15x.
Check out the schedule here and please sign up and come see us!
Finally , today we are also launching the official forums for the OSD32MP1. This is the place to ask any question or make any comments about the OSD32MP15x System-in-Package. This is always the best way to interact directly with our engineers. We pride ourselves in the speed and completeness of our responses and we also love hearing your feedback.
As you can see, we have a lot going on and are very excited to help you achieve your design goals with the new OSD32MP15x System-in-Package built around the ST32MP1.
