        I am unable to connect with the OSD335x-SM-RED. Running Windows 10 x64. When I connect the board, the LED’s light up and the board appears as a mass storage device.

        Device Manager shows the following devices:
        Network adapters > Linux USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget (Device working properly)
        Portable Devices > BEAGLEBONE (Device working properly)
        Ports (COM & LPT) > Gadget Serial (COM 6) (Device failed to start. Error code 10)
        Ports (COM & LPT) > USB Serial Device (COM 5) (Device working properly)

        Opening Firefox and Chrome and attempting to connect to 192.168.7.2, then connection times out.

        Searches online suggest potential issues with Windows 10 trying to configure the board as a serial device rather than an RNDIS device.
        I have found several forum threads discussing this issue dating back to 2010. For such a widespread issue, there is an alarming lack of documentation from both Octavo and BeagleBone about how to specifically resolve this issue.

        Has anyone seen this issue and have a solution?

          Based on the information provided, it looks like you have all of the drivers installed and working properly. The other thing to check is that Windows has configured the network settings correctly.

          • Under “Settings” –> “Network & Internet” –> “Change adapter options”
            • You should have a “Network Connections” window pop up that will have an “EthernetXX” entry that is an “Remote NDIS Compatible” device
          • Right click on this device and select “Properties”. This will pop up another window
          • Select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and Click “Properties”
          • Make sure that: “Use the following IP address:” is selected and that the following information is in the network box:
            • IP address: 192.168.7.1
            • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252

          We are not sure exactly why Windows will not set up the network connections correctly when the board if first attached, but it is always good to check these network settings to make sure that they are correct. Additionally, if you try to share your computer’s Ethernet or WiFi connection with the OSD3358-SM-RED or a Beagleboard development board, Windows will automatically change the IP settings for the RNDIS connection and you will need to follow the above procedure to correct them.
