Forums › Reference, Evaluation, and Development Boards › OSD3358 C-SIP custom board boot up issue
We have designed a custom board based on C-SIP reference design using OSD3358-512M-ICB module. Following are issues observed in booting up of OSD335x processor module:
SYS_VDD1_3P3V, SYS_VDD1_3P3V is at 3.3V, SYS_VDD_1P8V is at 1.8V, when powered via VIN_USB or VIN_AC (5V regulated) for both the boards.
Board 1:
1) SYS_VOUT is at 5V, SYS_VDD2_3P3V is at 3.3V, SYS_RTC_1P8V is at 3.3V when powered via VIN_USB or VIN_AC
2) PMIC_NRST, PMIC_PB_IN (Connected to PWR_But) are low (required to be high) on powering. No short observed without power.
3) WARMRSTN is high, SYS_RST is high on powering. No short observed without power.
4) PMIC_PGOOD, LDO_PGOOD is high at 1.8V, PWR_EN is high at 1V.
5) 24MHz cock observed on OSC0_CTL pin.
6) Boot pin (LCD_DATA2) having only a 100K pull-up resistor to 3.3V connected is showing 2.54 V.
7) No USB0 or UART0 interface running observed when boot configuration SYSBOOT[13:0] = 0x0018 (SD Card) is selected.
8) Blinking of all 4 User LEDs is observed at rate of 5 sec when boot configuration SYSBOOT[13:0] = 0x001C (default) is selected.
9) Neither MMC0_CLK (SD_Card clock) generated to read u-boot files from SD_Card, nor any pulse observed on UART or USB pins for either boot configuration.
Board 2:
1) No SYS_VOUT, No SYS_VDD2_3P3V generated when powered via VIN_USB or VIN_AC. SYS_RTC_1P8V is at 1.8V
2) PMIC_NRST, PMIC_PB_IN (Connected to PWR_But) are pulled high to 5V on powering. No short observed without power.
3) WARMRSTN is low (required to be high) on powering. No short observed without power.
4) PMIC_PGOOD is high, LDO_PGOOD is low, PWR_EN is low.
5) No 24MHz cock observed on OSC0_CTL pin.
6) Boot pin (LCD_DATA2) and LCD_DATA4 having only a 100K pull-up resistor to 3.3V connected is showing 0.4 V.
7) No USB0 or UART0 interface running observed when boot configuration SYSBOOT[13:0] = 0x0018 (SD Card) is selected.
8) No Blinking of all 4 User LEDs is observed when boot configuration SYSBOOT[13:0] = 0x001C (default) is selected.
9) Neither MMC0_CLK (SD_Card clock) generated to read u-boot files from SD_Card, nor any pulse observed on UART or USB pins for either boot configuration.
Kindly suggest what could be the possible reason for such behavior.
We will answer this question through our sales support channel.
Hi,
I am still awaiting any response from your end.
A third board was assembled with minimal components as described in the Dead-bug guide. This third module doesn’t even power up. No SYS_3V3 or SYS_1V8 power output observed.
We performed X-ray inspection, which you can find in the attachment. We can say that neither there is error in PCB layout and manufacturing nor in solder reflow assembly.
We are eagerly waiting to fix the issue on our first try with the OSD335x SIP module. Kindly suggest us the next step.
Regards,
I apologize. There was a bounce-back on the email. You should have received an email by now. If you have not, please reach out to sales [at] octavosystems.com so we can get your correct email.
