Part 1 – Job Profile

Job Grade: Full-time, Exempt

Compensation: TBD

Location: Sugar Land, TX

Reports To: Applications & Systems Manager

Job Summary:

As a Systems and Applications Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop hardware and software on different microprocessor platforms, work with different applications in fields, such as AI, IoT, and industrial control, to solve customer problems, validate products, and create application collateral. You will be part of a cross functional team, working closely with Sales and Marketing, and will gain the experience to be a key technical expert on Octavo products.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate application collateral, such as application notes, tutorials, reference documents, etc., to convey the benefits of Octavo’s products and help customers use them
  • Provide technical expertise to Octavo’s customers through interaction with the sales team or online forums
  • Develop hardware and software tools to help customers use Octavo’s products
  • Develop demos and applications to showcase Octavo’s products in new application areas, such as IoT
  • Develop hardware reference designs to showcase Octavo’s products
  • Validate Octavo products meet their specifications
  • Visit customers and attend conferences
  • Help develop and define new Octavo products

Part 2 – Personal Profile

Education, Technical Qualifications, and Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Science (BSCS) or equivalent
  • Experience with electronic CAD tools like Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, or KiCAD
  • Experience with C and Python
  • Familiarity with basic Linux commands and version control systems like Git
  • Experience with advanced Linux concepts is a plus (Writing Drivers, Building Kernels)
  • Project experience from concept to product (through manufacturing is a plus)
  • Strong technical writing skills
