Fitz Lee

CEO:  Fitz Lee is the founding CEO and Chairman of Octavo Systems.

Fitz has 30 years of business operations experience in a broad range of activities, including operations management, finance, company acquisitions and mobilization, IT/consulting and software development.  Fitz also is Chairman of Green Source Holdings, a multiple-family office investment vehicle that focuses on identifying and developing businesses with disruptive and transformational technologies.  He previously founded a software development company that built specialized real estate asset management software.  Prior to that, Fitz worked for Goldman Sachs specializing in real estate and workouts of non-performing assets.  He was part of a team that established Trillium Group, a successful multi-million dollar business in London that was sold after four years for more than $250 Million, and served as its founding Chief Strategic Officer.

Fitz has a BBA in Corporate Finance from Emory University.

President:  Harley Walsh is the President of Octavo Systems.  He has more than 25 years of business and management experience covering finance, operations, software development and government affairs.

Before joining Octavo, Harley was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Green Source Holdings, a multi-family office investment vehicle that identifies and develops businesses with disruptive and transformational technologies.  Prior to that, he was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a software development company that created specialized real estate asset management software.  Earlier in his career, Harley worked in the U.S. Senate, serving as Legislative Director for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and was an investment banker in the corporate finance division at Lehman Brothers.  He began his career as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Harley attended Washington and Lee University, earning a B.A. in economics.  He also received his MBA from the University of Virginia.

CTO:  Erik Welsh is the Chief Technical Officer and Applications and Systems Manager for Octavo Systems.  He has over 17 years of industry experience architecting and designing embedded hardware and software systems.

Erik comes to Octavo after spending 3 years as the Principal Systems Architect at Mango Communications developing FPGA based platforms for cutting-edge wireless research.  He began his career at Texas Instruments in SoC design eventually leading SoC Security Architecture development and managing engineering support of customers in the PC industry.

His design experience ranges from wireless platforms to IoT devices.  Erik has contributed to open source projects including Linux and WARP (Wireless Open-Access Research Platform). He has software expertise from low-level drivers to high level embedded applications.  Erik has presented and taught workshops at dozens of industry and peer-reviewed conferences and universities.  He currently holds patents in the area of SiP technology.  Erik earned a BSEE and MEE from Rice University.

Greg Sheridan

VP Strategy/Marketing Manager:   Greg Sheridan is the VP of Strategy and Marketing Manager for Octavo Systems, responsible for Product Management, Product Support, Product Road map, and External Marketing Efforts.

He has over 10 years of experience supporting customers as they adopt new technology to achieve their business objectives.  Prior to Octavo Systems, he was an Account Manager for Texas Instruments where he supported the international oil field service providers.  He led the strategy development for the High Temperature Electronics and High Precision Analog-Digital Convertor (ADC) product lines.  He helped define 2 new products that secured TI’s position in the market.

He was a consultant for a leading telecommunication software provider.  He was responsible for implementation and support of the company’s solutions at a large national telecom provider.

Greg received a Master of Business Administration, his Master of Science is Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Founding Chief Architect: Peter Linder is the Founding Chief Architect at Octavo Systems, responsible for using his uniquely diverse understanding of computers to define and architect new products which enable new capabilities and markets.

Early in his career, Peter worked at Texas Instruments working as a computer memory chip and CPU designer and then led the world-wide field application and debug team.   He later founded and led the primary design center for Nanya Technologies, designing memory chips, substrates, and modules.  Peter subsequently became a cyber-security expert and obtained the CISSP “Certified Information Systems Security Professional” certification, which he still maintains.   He also contributed to and consulted on a number of blockchain network software engineering projects.

Peter received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Martin Burgos

Business Development Director:  Martín V. Burgos is the Business Development Manager of Octavo Systems, responsible for expanding our customer base and driving the resulting sales.  Specifically he is responsible for the account management, the sales network and identifying new business opportunities for the company.

Prior to joining Octavo Systems, he was the Business Development Director for Z3 Technology, a worldwide provider of embedded video processing systems.  During his tenure at Z3 Technology, he was responsible for both direct accounts and channel partners to grow this company’s OEM and end equipment businesses.

Martin also spent over 15 years with the Texas Instruments (TI) Embedded Processing team in various roles including Product Marketing, Channel Management and Business Development.  Prior to his experience with the TI Embedded Processing team, he was a Product Engineer with TI’s Military Semiconductor Group.

Martin attended the University of Arizona, earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.

 Operations Manager:  Sam Duyka is the Operations Manager for Octavo Systems.  He brings over 30 years of experience to Octavo Systems in the Offshore Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) industry.

Sam held multiple management positions in both Operations and Sales for some of the largest OSAT providers.  He started his career at Texas Instruments and served as a manager in both Operations and Financial Planning.  Throughout his career he has focused on meeting and exceeding customer expectations by delivering product on time and within budget. Sam has a keen understanding of market forces and uses this sense to insure that both Octavo and customer profitably benefits from the trends in the supply chain and new product introductions.

Sam received a degree in marketing from the University of Houston.  He is also an entrepreneur founding a Sales and Marketing firm that promotes his patented consumer products as well technology from other innovative companies.

The Founders

The founders consist of a group of three former Texas Instruments leaders with a complementary set of skills and experiences.

Gene Frantz

Gene Frantz: Prior to joining Octavo Systems, Gene spent his career as a systems engineer at Texas instruments where he retired in 2013 as its Principal Fellow.  He is also a Professor in the Practice at Rice University where he mentors students and advises startup companies.

Gene is a Fellow of the IEEE, holds 50 patents in the area of memories, speech, consumer products, DSP and SiP technology, has written more than 100 Papers and articles and presents at Universities and conferences worldwide.

Gene received his BSE from University of Central Florida in 1971, his MSEE from Southern Methodist in 1977 and his MBA from Texas Tech University in 1982.  Upon graduation with his BSE, he joined the US Army in 1972 where he was assigned to the Army Communications Command. After his time in the Army he began his career at Texas Instruments Calculator Division as a Product Engineer.

Masood Murtuza

Masood Murtuza:  Masood is the Manager of Package Engineering at Octavo Systems. Prior to joining Octavo he was a Technical Fellow at Texas Instruments where he held multiple leadership roles in the Packaging and Assembly Process Engineering teams. During his tenure at TI he introduced a number of new semiconductor packaging technologies. He also helped advance innovation in technology development across the company by establishing new methodologies in package and assembly development process.

Masood holds 25 patents from his work prior to joining Octavo Systems.  Since joining Octavo, he has been part of more than 10 patent applications on System in Package technology.  He has authored or co-authored more than 15 papers in the areas of semiconductor packaging and System in Package technology.

He received his BTech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India and an MSc in Naval Architecture from University College, University of London.

Bill Heye

Bill Heye:  Bill has over 35 years of experience managing businesses from startups to large divisions of Fortune 500 enterprises.  Prior to helping to start Octavo Systems, he was President, CEO of SBE, Inc. (NASDAQ).  He also served as Chairman of PowerFactor One, a fabless semiconductor company.

Bill was Vice President Manufacturing of Mostek Corporation where he led the expansion of DRAM manufacturing capacity with establishment of an assembly operation in Dublin, Ireland.

Bill held multiple positions during his career at Texas instruments including President of Texas Instruments Asia Ltd, Vice President of TI’s Consumer Division, General Manager, Texas Instruments Taiwan Ltd. He originally joined TI in Dallas as a Product Engineer responsible for the 2N696/2N1893 transistor line

He obtained his BSEE at Texas A&M University and a MBA as a Baker Scholar at Harvard Business School.  In between his BSEE and MBA, he served in the United States Airforce.
